The CVE MCP Server provides 27 tools across 21 APIs, allowing Claude to directly query vulnerability databases and correlate findings without manual database searches.

The New Toolset

A new integration called the CVE MCP Server has been released, connecting the Claude AI assistant with 21 different application programming interfaces (APIs) for vulnerability data. This tool provides 27 distinct actions that allow a security analyst to query, filter, and correlate information about known vulnerabilities. Instead of manually checking multiple databases, an analyst can now ask Claude to find all critical vulnerabilities affecting a specific software vendor or to check for active exploitation reports.

Impact and Scope

The server bridges a gap between natural language queries and structured vulnerability data. For example, an analyst can request a summary of all Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures (CVE) records with a CVSS score above 9.0 that were published in the last month. The tool can also fetch details for specific CVEs such as CVE-2024-1234 or CVE-2025-5678 from cve.org. This capability transforms a general purpose AI into a specialized security research assistant, reducing the time needed to triage and prioritize vulnerabilities.
