Northstar raises $7M to map the combinations attackers hunt for

The startup has left stealth with a graph that connects identities, assets and vulnerabilities, then sends AI agents to close the risky overlaps.

Northstar Security has come out of stealth with $7 million in seed funding, led by Wing Venture Capital, to build a platform that hunts for risks that only exist in combination.

Gerhard Eschelbeck, Renaud Deraison and Justin Somaini are among the angels, alongside MVP and Outliers.

## The graph behind the pitch

Whatever security and IT tooling a customer already runs feeds telemetry into the product, which stitches those feeds into a Security Context Graph. Its edges redraw continuously, showing where identities meet assets, where applications meet vulnerabilities, and how business systems hang off all of it.

The target is the toxic combination: a missing endpoint agent, an unmanaged device, an over-privileged account. Each looks tolerable in isolation. Stacked together they hand an attacker a route into something that matters. Take a laptop with no endpoint protection, owned by a privileged account that can reach a payroll system the company cares about, and the picture changes.

## Ask in plain language, let agents act

Questions go to the platform in ordinary language rather than queries. Agents can then start the fix (installing the missing agent, notifying the user, trimming access), with people supervising where it counts.

Model Context Protocol gives external AI agents a path into the graph, so customers can construct workflows of their own. Okta, GitHub, Workday, Microsoft Defender and Entra, AWS and Google Cloud are on a supported list that crosses 70 enterprise products.

CEO Amer Deeba said teams have plenty of data but not enough context, and he should know: he previously co-founded Normalyze, later acquired by Proofpoint, and before that held a senior post at Qualys. Engineering leadership at AppDynamics, as an SVP, was where CTO and co-founder Ed Rowe worked before Farmers Business Network. The money goes to platform work, hiring and sales.
