AI Driven Password Repairs
At the 2026 Worldwide Developers Conference, Apple introduced a new capability for its Passwords app and Safari browser that uses artificial intelligence to autonomously fix weak or compromised account credentials. Previously, Apple’s tools could only flag problematic passwords and suggest manual changes. The upcoming feature, powered by what Apple calls an Agentic Password Manager, will automatically update eligible accounts to strong passwords without requiring user intervention.
Apple explained that the system analyzes user behavior to identify accounts with vulnerable passwords and then replaces them seamlessly. The company emphasized this is different from simple detection features available today, as the AI now takes action on behalf of the user to secure accounts proactively.
Privacy Driven Foundation Models
Apple stressed that the new agentic behavior is built on its next generation Foundation Models, developed in collaboration with Google using Gemini outputs for fine tuning. According to Apple, the intelligence runs primarily on device, with some processing handled through Private Cloud Compute servers where personal data is neither stored nor accessible by Apple or any third party.
The company stated that “every facet of the new Apple Intelligence architecture is built privacy first,” covering the operating system technologies and models integrated deeply into Apple’s platforms. Apple also noted that these security improvements are scheduled for release with iOS 27 later this year, with developer beta access available immediately through the Developer Program.
