Google Cloud completes its $32 billion acquisition of Wiz, combining cloud security with Google’s Threat Intelligence and Gemini AI to create an AI-powered cybersecurity platform.
Cloud security giant Wiz has officially joined Google Cloud in a landmark $32 billion all-cash deal that closed on March 11, 2026. The acquisition received unconditional approval from the European Commission and passed antitrust review in the United States in November 2025. Google Cloud CEO Thomas Kurian said the combined entity will offer an AI-powered cybersecurity platform that combines Google’s Threat Intelligence and Security Operations with Wiz’s Cloud and AI Security Platform.
The new platform aims to detect, prevent, and respond to threats across all environments, including detecting emerging cybersecurity threats created using AI models, protecting against threats to AI models, and leveraging AI models to accelerate threat hunting and threat response. Importantly, Wiz will maintain its brand and continue to provide cybersecurity solutions for all major cloud platforms, including AWS, Azure, and Oracle Cloud.
Wiz CEO Assaf Rappaport said the integration provides the opportunity to accelerate the roadmap in ways not previously possible, with details on enhancements powered by Google Gemini AI to be shared soon. The deal provides massive payouts for Wiz’s backers: Index Ventures collects $3.8 billion, Sequoia Capital $3.2 billion, and Insight Partners $2.9 billion. Wiz’s 1,800 global employees hold equity valued at roughly $3 billion, and Google has committed $1.5 billion in retention bonuses.
Google Cloud also hosts Mandiant, which Google acquired in 2022 for $5.4 billion, making the combined Wiz-Google-Mandiant platform a formidable force in cloud security.
